Indigenous Peoples

chakanaV.png

For Wallawisa, Indigenous peoples are bearers of a living memory expressed through their languages, knowledge, ceremonies, and ways of relating to the Earth. Across generations, they have developed knowledge connected to territory, biodiversity, coexistence, and the spiritual dimension of existence.

We also recognize the inequalities, discrimination, and loss of territories that many of these communities have faced throughout history and that continue to affect them today.

Wallawisa promotes respect for their dignity, identity, and autonomy, helping to bring greater visibility to their ancestral knowledge, local economies, and cultural expressions —crafts, traditional medicine, music, weaving, and ceremonies— as part of a living heritage that continues to evolve.

We work so that their voices are heard with respect and so that their knowledge can engage in dialogue with the present without losing its origins or identity.

Listening to Indigenous peoples also means learning other ways of understanding our relationship with the Earth.
