Ethnomedicine

For Wallawisa, ancestral medicinal practices constitute a living heritage that reflects a profound relationship between human beings, nature, and spirit. In certain cultural contexts, these traditions include the ritual use of master plants such as Ayahuasca, Wachuma or San Pedro, as well as sacred mushrooms, traditionally used in ceremonies of healing, learning, and spiritual seeking.
In many Indigenous traditions, ethnomedicine is closely connected to spiritual and ritual practices, in which the spiritual guide —healer or master— is understood, within these worldviews, as a mediator between the visible and invisible worlds and as a custodian of practices aimed at individual and communal balance.
For millennia, this knowledge has nourished the identity of the communities that practice it. Wallawisa honors and supports these traditions, recognizing their knowledge holders as essential custodians of cultural wisdom and of the balance that sustains life.
